Why do I keep getting the same email messages over and over?:

If you are experiencing this problem you are not alone. The reason you are having this problem is most likely due to a very large email message (or messages) in your mailbox. This is caused by someone emailing you a message that is so large it is blocking your mailbox. Your mailbox cannot empty itself out completely until all email messages are retrieved. Until all email is retrieved you will start at the first message each time you attempt to retrieve your email.

Solutions:

  • 1) ** EASY FIX ** Click here and visit WEB MAIL. You can login using your dialup username and password. You will be able to view, send and delete any messages in your mailbox at Cybercom. Since these are the messages that are not yet loaded onto your computer at home you can also view and/or delete any large messages that are blobking your ability to download them. A large message is anything with an attachment larger than 500k (20 second download).
  • 2) Be patient when downloading your mail and watch the modem icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to see if it is busy downloading.. It may look like it is doing nothing but can actually be working hard to get your oversized message(s). Also be sure to NOT attempt to re-retrieve the mail while it is busy downloading messages or the process could start over again.
  • 3) As a last resort you can call us to have the mail message removed from your mailbox. This is sometimes the only way to get rid of the problem. While we do not mind removing the mail for you on occasion, excessive support calls of this nature should be kept at a minimum. Keep in mind however, that we cannot parse through all of your email to remove single troubling messages. Deleting the entire contents of the box may be the only resort if the problem is due to multiple large messages.

Ways to avoid this in the future:

  • Make sure people do not send you emails that are huge.
  • Sending jokes and pictures are the main causes of this problem
  • If you have someone that constantly sends you large messages you may want to ask them to stop.

    Installing Additional Email Software:

If you have a "Family Email Account" or you want to check your email from another computer you will have to install ADDITIONAL e-mail software. For Family accounts, your main e-mail account normally is configured into your Netscape mail software so there is no need to do anything extra to retrieve your main account's e-mail. To check your additional email accounts you only need an additional E-Mail software package to be installed and configured. Below are a few examples of software you can download and install. Each of the programs has separate instructions for installation.

Click here for Eudora setup instructions.

You can find additional internet software at the following links:

I Cannot see the body of email messages:

In Netscape Email the bottom window is the location where the body of the message text appears. You probably do not see the bottom window because it is pushed to the bottom of the entire window (See red area below).
    email2

Solution: Put your mouse at the bottom of the Netscape Mail window and as you raise it up you will see that themouse icon changes to a bar.

Hold down the mouse button and drag this bar up until you see the window that has been hidden from your view.

    email2

You should now be able to read the body of email messages sent to you. If this did not help you, another problem is causing your trouble. This only applies to Netscape Email.

Saving password in Windows 95 Dialup:

If the "Save Password" box is grey and not clickable:
    You need to go here:

      1) My Computer
      2) Control Panel
      3) Network
      4) Add
      5) Client
      6) Microsoft
      7) Client for Microsoft Networks

It will then ask you for a username and workgroup name. Enter whatever you like.

How it works: In order for your password to be saved, Win95 must have a username to save it to. By loading the Microsoft Networks Client you will be creating an account for the password to be stored. This works 99% of the time.

Note: Be sure to NOT enter a password unless you want to type it in everytime you boot the machine up.

    Configuring Netscape Email

    Please read this section carefully!

After you Install the Cybercom Internet Access Kit you will already have correctly set up email services. However, if you want to have your Netscape check another Cybercom email account you may follow the instructions below on how to change your Netscape to do so. If you are installing a NEWER version of Netscape this section will still be helpful but not exact. This example is for the Cybercom supplied Netscape 3.01 software.

Click here to see step by step screen shots of the setup process.

If you want to use a different software package to check your email please click here and read how you can configure your machine differently.

    Using Other Internet Software

    Please read this section carefully!

After you Install the Cybercom Internet Access Kit you may use any Internet Application you wish to use. Cybercom's Netscape Internet Dialer will work with any 3rd party application you wish to use. This section is for those that wish to use other email or browser software instead of or in addition to the Cybercom supplied software. See examples of such software below..

The software supplied by Cybercom should be installed first to ensure your account is in good working order. You should keep the latest version of the Cybercom software on your machine at all times even if you choose to use another software package. This is very important if the software package you choose to install does not function properly. You are using the lastest version of Cybercom's Internet kit if you installed it via our CDROM. If you are using an older version you may pick up an upgrade at Cybercom.

It is important to note that Cybercom pays the Netscape license fee for each customer we have. We have chosen Netscape because of it's easy installation, and total compatibility with web site browsing. Shareware or other "free" browsers with complicated installations were not chosen to make your experience more successful and technical support much easier. After you install the Cybercom kit and verify it is working you may then download and Install any software package you would like to use. Please note that installing software to be used instead of Cybercom's Netscape kit is not recommended for all users. It is only recommended for advanced users that can install their own software.

Examples of 3rd Party Internet Software for Advanced Users:

  • Microsoft Outlook Email Exchange
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer & Email
  • Eudora Email (click here for comprehensive online support)
  • Pegasus Email
  • Etc...
  • Please Note: Cybercom is unable to provide phone based technical support for software other than the Cybercom Netscape Software Kit. This should not pose a problem if you are advanced enough with software to try other software packages. If you are capable of installing your own software you need nothing but the information below to setup 3rd party software for Cybercom. Cybercom's advanced 3rd party software support is available for those who wish to have 3rd party software installed for them. Please email us if you have any questions.
